Visa & work permit renewal: how far ahead should you prepare?
The question we get most often is “when should we start?” The short answer: earlier than you think. Here is the timeline we recommend.
In practice, we recommend starting at least 45 days before expiry, because some documents must be requested from external agencies and each takes a different amount of time.
On the company side, the slowest items are usually the latest company affidavit, the most recently filed financial statements, and PND.1 filings with receipts for the past three months. If the company has recently changed directors or relocated, allow extra time.
On the applicant side, the most commonly forgotten item is an up-to-date TM.30 residence notification. Every time you leave and re-enter Thailand, the property owner or tenant must file TM.30 again.
One last point: do not wait until the expiry date. Filing early does not shorten your visa validity, but it does give you room to fix things if officers request additional documents.
